INTRODUCTION

This is the story of a First Family. Its roots beyond a hundred years ago are almost totally obscure because of the passage of time and the absence of any written information that would reveal important knowledge. We have little evidence of what took place before Anton Nagorski and his family arrived at Ellis Island, New York in May, 1892. Perhaps in time to come, some members of the family will travel to Europe and uncover new facts about the family prior to that wonderful month in the late nineteenth century.

We are fortunate that there are living today, seven of us who comprise the first generation, born in the U.S.A., descendants of our First Family. A good deal of what this work contains was derived from the stimulated memories and retained memorabilia of this group.

We dedicate this project to the Levels of Generations alive now and to those yet to appear in the future.

While this dedication is well meant, we can not pass this opportunity to declare our deep felt gratitude to our First Family. Perhaps at each of our annual Thanksgiving Day festivities, we might want to add...

A THANKSGIVING THOUGHT

"THANK YOU, OUR PIONEERING ANCESTORS, FOR DECIDING TO COME TO AMERICA. WE HOPE BY OUR WORDS AND DEEDS, WE SHOW OUR APPRECIATION FOR YOUR COURAGE AND WISDOM."
